IRCH 2004 USA Trip a Success for Aussies |
||

Ted and Paul with Ted's LongRanger
26/08/04 -- Brian, Paul, Ted & Brad made IRCHA 2004 Jamboree the US launch pad for the Zealous II and Longranger turbine powered helicopters.
After several long flights and some problems with getting our luggage we finally arrived at Muncie to show off our stuff. We got to the flying site Thursday to set up and assemble our models.
Interest was immediately there as we unpacked our large turbine powered models. Unfortunately we could not fly on Thursday as some key components were in a suitcase that had gone missing. The suitcase arrived late that night, so we were all set for a spectacular flying day on Friday.
Friday morning we managed to complete several shake down flights so to check that all was in order. On Saturday the interest in our models had increased dramatically. The main comments were about the location of the turbine mechanics in the Longranger, and the large open cabin.
Paul and Ted entered Ted's Longranger successfully in the scale event. Paul's flying was superb, and we heard many comments on how stable the model was.
Brian performed several lunch time demos with the Zealous II pod & boom. These demos showed just how much power the WREN MW54 Power Turbine produces. Everyone was amazed by the climb rate, and how fast the Zealous II flies. The crowd also commented on the stability and the agility of the model, considering how large it is.
Sunday was just a fun day, and we were getting ready to pack up for the long trip home. Brian and Paul gave several excellent demos for the crowd.
We saw a great deal of interest in our models, and it was a pleasure to participate in the IRCHA 2004 jamboree.
Our thanks go out to all involved with the IRCHA 2004 jamboree, it was a fantastic event. A special thanks to Dr Tim for his help with fuel and gas, and to Jon Tanner and Amy Smith from Trapplet publications for their help with transportation to and from the field.
Regards,
the RCrotortech team.
